For decades, WINGS founder Dr. Jasneth James has been committed to humanitarian service, feeding people experiencing homelessness and giving back to communities in every way she could.
During the past nine years of working with patients throughout New York City, Dr. James encountered many people in their homes who could not afford basic medical equipment and supplies. Some essential items, such as blood-pressure monitors and blood-glucose testing supplies, were not fully covered by their health plans. Others could not afford the required copayments.
After witnessing these needs firsthand, Dr. James personally purchased and delivered air conditioners, walkers, wheelchairs, blood-pressure monitors, furniture, and other essential items to individuals and families throughout New York.

Her humanitarian work has also extended beyond the United States through missions and outreach in Jamaica, Honduras, Bolivia, and other underserved communities. These experiences revealed that the need for health education, preventive screenings, medical supplies, food, and other essential resources is not limited to one city or country—it is a global concern.
WINGS Global Health Foundation was born from these local and international experiences and from a desire to reach more people. What began as one person responding to immediate needs has grown into a broader mission to bring health education, practical resources, dignity, and hope to underserved communities at home and abroad.
